It was April 11, 1895, very close to ten thirty at night, when the National Hero José Martí arrived on the shores of Cuba. The then Delegate of the Cuban Revolutionary Party was accompanied by Major General Máximo Gómez, Generals Francisco Borrero and Ángel Guerra, Colonel Marcos del Rosario and Captain César Salas. They came to Playita de Cajobabo to contribute to the war that had begun on February 24, 1895. A fact considered the most significant date in the Guantánamo province. On the occasion of celebrating this April 11, the 126 years of such an important historical date, the Board of Directors in the municipality of Imías, approved an activity plan to ponder the event that marked the lives of the Imians. It encompasses tasks that range from tours and encounters with History, revival of plaques and monuments, to the realization of actions that promote the economic and social plan of the territory.
Together with this, the Municipal Assembly of the People's Power of Imías, presents its communication campaign that makes visible the actions that have been carried out in conjunction with the government plan prepared for this purpose. Taking up the words of Raúl Garcés, dean of the Faculty of Communication at the University of Havana: "The biggest thing is not only a monumental building, but also what is invisible to the eyes." With the launch of this campaign, not only the culture, history and nature of our territory are defended, which exacerbate the pride of being imienses, but also enhance the actions and values of anonymous workers in health, education, culture. , sports, communal, drivers and many others that affect the socio-economic development of the territory and that sometimes go unnoticed. It is also focused on promoting spaces for listening, good manners of behavior, decency and values, are within the projected goals, so it is not by chance that the slogan of this campaign is: Salto, Dicha Grande. It is also intended to jump in the qualitative, in the promotion of spaces for healthy recreation, decency, good manners, the culture of detail in each work undertaken. The delegates, cadres and the population put their heart and creativity to this plan, using the date as a pretext to grow in all dimensions, achieving a more committed people with a greater sense of belonging.
